The Kia Carnival may technically share an industry class with platforms like the Toyota Sienna, but to call it a minivan would be a mistake. Our manufacturing partner borrowed the exterior style and performance capabilities from its lineup of crossover SUVs. However, that makes a comparison between the 2022 Kia Carnival vs. 2021 Toyota Sienna all the more important for people shopping in the portion of the automotive industry. The all-new Carnival offers more power than its Toyota rival and can make more maximum cargo room available when the rear seats are folded down. Independent reviews praised the 2022 Carnival for its powerful engine, unique exterior style and its long list of standard features.

The 2022 Kia Carnival employs a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 engine attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will make 290 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. On the other side of the equation is the 2021 Toyota Sienna that has been completely redesigned for the current model year. While it is now solely using a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder hybrid engine, it will make significantly less power than the robust powertrain Kia has chosen for the 2022 Carnival.
When properly equipped the 2022 Kia Carnival will be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds.
Passenger and cargo space are really the two most important elements for people looking at vehicles like the 2022 Carnival and 2021 Sienna. Both vehicles have three rows of seats, but the 2022 Kia Carnival will offer more maximum cargo volume. Most new Carnival models will be able to make up to 145.1 cubic-feet of cargo space available. The top-of-the-line SX Prestige doesn’t have a removable second row of seats, because of its premium comfort systems. This version will offer 86.9 cubic-feet of cargo volume.
Owners of the 2021 Toyota Sienna will only have 101 cubic-feet of maximum cargo volume to use.
