We love the Seltos and the Sportage. Ultimately, your choice is going to come down to your specific driving needs and preferences. The base engine of the Sportage will crank out more horsepower than the base engine of the Seltos, with 181 horsepower in the base Sportage compared to the 147 horsepower in the base Seltos. The Seltos provides a bit more in fuel economy though, but both crossovers are actually quite efficient. If you plan to tow anything, you’ll want to go with the Sportage, which is rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped with Trailer Brakes. The Seltos is not rated for towing.
